Excitement is building as advance bookings for the much-awaited Tamil film Retro open across Tamil Nadu on April 27 at 4 PM. Slated for release on May 1, 2025, this romantic action drama stars Suriya and Pooja Hegde in leading roles.

Directed and written by Karthik Subbaraj, the film was earlier known as Suriya 44: Love, Laughter, War before being officially named Retro in December 2024. The movie is produced by Stone Bench Creations and 2D Entertainment, with Suriya and Jyotika among the producers. Filming took place in scenic locations like the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Kerala, Ooty, and Chennai, wrapping up in October 2024.

The story follows Paarivel "Paari" Kannan (Suriya) and Rukmini "Rukku" (Pooja Hegde), with Baby Aavni playing the younger version of Rukmini. While plot details are closely held, the film promises a unique mix of romance, action, and humor.

Retro features a strong supporting cast including Jayaram, Joju George, Karunakaran, Nassar, Prakash Raj, and Sujith Shankar. Music is by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Shreyaas Krishna, and editing by Shafique Mohamed Ali. Fans can also look forward to special appearances by Shriya Saran in a song and Santhosh Narayanan in another sequence.
