Superstar Rajinikanth's film 'Muthu', which rocked the box office upon its 1995 release, is all set for a grand re-release. Paired alongside Meena, the movie's soulful tunes were orchestrated by none other than the maestro, AR Rahman.

Directed by K. S. Ravikumar, the film boasts an impressive supporting cast including Sarath Babu, Radha Ravi, Senthil, Vadivelu, Jayabharathi, Subhashri, and Ponnambalam. The buzz is ripe with news of the movie's teaser launching today at 7 PM, heralding its re-release in theaters on December 8th.

This exciting development coincides with Rajinikanth's birthday month, offering fans a double treat as the iconic film returns to the big screen. 'Muthu' recently marked its 25th anniversary since its release in Japan, where it ran successfully for an impressive 182 days, setting an outstanding box office record.

Remarkably, the movie gained such admiration in Japan that the then Prime Minister of India, Manmohan Singh, referenced it during his address to the Japanese Parliament in 2006. Rajinikanth's character in 'Muthu' earned him the moniker 'Indian Jackie Chan' among Japanese audiences. The film not only catapulted Rajinikanth's fame worldwide but also elevated Meena's stature, earning her the endearing title of the 'Black-eyed goddess' in Japan.

Produced by Kavithalayaa Productions, 'Muthu' is a remake of the 1994 Malayalam film 'Thenmavin Kombath'. The storyline revolves around a zamindar and his worker vying for the affection of the same woman, unbeknownst to the zamindar.

AR Rahman's mesmerizing music in the movie became an instant hit, significantly expanding the market for Indian films in territories like Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia, cementing Rajinikanth's status as an unrivaled superstar among his contemporaries.
