What is it all about?

A `Bollywood graffiti'  of desi action dhamaka done with remarkable style and density ensuring the fun with gun gets better as it goes along.

Crouching Tiger Motion Pictures in association with Wave Cinemas Ponty Chadha and Tigmanshu Dhulia produced `Revolver Rani' stars Kangana Ranaut as the gun blazing hot Daku Haseena from India's dacoit pilgrimage Chambhal in this indaniosyntric saga of love, politics and revenge that shoots the right spot and in a wacky way also empowers women making Tarantino proud.

Sai Kabir as helmer (the forgettable `Chemistry' last year) and writer (Kismat Conncetion and Lahma to remember) ensures that this `Rani' is entertaining enough to please the loyal audiences of this genre either by gun or by pun.

The Story

Sai Kabir manages to add glory to a simple story of Alka Singh aka Revolver Rani (Kangana Ranaut) a dacoit turned gangster turned politician - this fiery junglee billie from Chambhal has just lost the election to opposition Tomar (Zakir Hussain) whose family has a personal score to settle with Alka. Tomar brother played by Kumud Mishra kidnaps Rani's obsession Rohan Mehra (Vir Das) a wannabe bollywood actor. Just when Rohan is about to be killed Rani rescues him what follows is a series of wacky funny satirical episodes of fun, gun, love and betrayal in this action packed dhamaal.

What to look out for

Style is the main substance here and it is done with a pulp fiction effect. Sai Kabir gets the audience charged by his barrage of satirical wisecracks, offbeat narration but massy connection, perfect casting.  smart characterization - bang on dialect and mannerisms.

`Revolver Rani' surprises you in the end and turns out better then a nerd influenced by Tarantino's films.. yes there are influences especially the background score at some points but Sai Kabir gives it his own stamp in this b-town Daku Haseena type action masala revamp.

The menace who loves benice (read Venice).. Kangana Ranaut as Alka Singh is an unstoppable fire. Coming right after `Queen' thunderous applause Kangana is the flesh and blood of `Revolver Rani' coming into her own right from the first frame. She enjoys the fun with her toy boy and wickedly holds the gun while getting ferocious with her opponents whenever it demands delivering those lines in the Bhundelkhandi accent with a husky voice and kohl eyes Kangana cuts a terrific figure. Mind blowing.

Vir Das excels in his act. Zakir Hussain is brilliant. Piyush Mishra is excellent. Kumud Mishra is fantastic.  Camera work by Suhas Gujrati is beautiful. Aarti Bajaj editing is sharp. Production values are excellent.

What not

The proceedings somewhat gets stretched in between. Though the dialect and the mannerisms of the characters are real the plot is make believe and the treatment might not be thrilling to all section of the audience. Sanjeev Srivastava music is situational and routine.

Conclusion: `Revolver Rani' features Kangana Ranaut blazing all guns in this whacky, funky fun. Bang Bang (go watch) at your nearest theatre..
