The rejection of Vishal's nomination to contest the R.K.Nagar elections stirred controversy. Now, the Returning Officer K.Velusamy who handled the issue has been replaced in a sudden move by the Election Commission.

IAS officer Praveen P.Nair has been installed in place of Velusamy now. Reportedly this replcement was came in recommended by the Chief Electoral Officer of the state himself. This decision comes in the backdrop of the previous returning officer's way of handling Vishal's nomination.

After rejecting the actor's nomination first on the grounds of two proposers citing forgery, Vishal submitted an audio proof and thereafter nominated again. But yet one more time his nomination was rejected citing lack of veracity in his proof.

In light of this, Vishal has welcomed the move stating that it was the 'first victory of the movement towards democracy'. "I truly hope people of R.K.Nagar go through fair election and on behalf of them I thank the Election Commisison of India," Vishal said.

It is also notable that DMK had earlier sought the Chief Electoral Officer to remove R.K.Nagar's Returning Officer.
