Sadhvi tenders apology for hailing Godse

Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur, the BJP MP candidate from Bhopal, on Thursday, described Nathuram Godse (Gandhi's assassin) as a patriot. She was reacting to Kamal Haasan's description of Godse as a "Hindu terrorist". "Godse was, is and will always be a deshbakth," she said.

Late on Thursday night, the controversial terror-accused MP candidate apologized for the remarks. "Gandhi's sacrifice is unforgettable. My comments may have hurt some people and I am saying sorry to them," she said.

Sadhvi gave a twist later. She alleged that the media had misquoted her comments on Godse. Earlier in the day, the BJP strongly asked her to tender an apology. She is expected to win from Bhopal.
