Earlier in the day, Samantha Akkineni appealed for donations so as to fund the surgery of a 3-year-old. "Jessika, 3 yrs old baby girl, is diagnosed with Bilateral Vesicoureteral reflux. The child needs Laparoscopic Ureteric Reimplantation surgery under General Anaesthesia and needs a hospital stay for 2-3 days. The approximate cost of the procedure is Rs.1,70,000/-" Pratyusha Support, the actress's NGO, said.
A donor expressed concern about most NGOs swindling away such funds in the name of philanthropy. The donor said, "Akka ne meeda nammakkam tho chesthunnam....ee society lo jaruguthunna mosala gurunchi telsu,rupay lo 75% valle thini 25% karchu chestharu urike cheppatle konni trusts ni chusa hope every child is cared and are happy under this org."
