It has become a regular thing for celebrities in these parts to face protests from some sections and succumbing to the pressure to avoid any trouble. From titles of films to trips of stars, nothing has escaped from the eyes of agitators.

In an apparent attempt to bell the cat, celebrity couple Krish-Sangeetha has hit back at those opposing their proposed trip to Switzerland, to take part in a New Year party hosted by the Tamils living there.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai on Monday, Sangeetha and Krish said they had cross-checked and verified that the event was being organized by Tamils and not backed by any anti-Tamil individuals or organizations. "With this being the case, why should not we attend the event?" they asked.

Sangeetha said, "Threatening actors has become the order of the day. Don't mix politics and cinema. We are actors and it is our duty to take part in cultural shows. No one has the right to ask us not to participate in any events."
