Sanjeev first HIV on screen

In Kannada films there are contents related to HIV positive disease but a HIV positive acting in a film and coming before the media daringly is for the first time via ‘Mother Savitha’.

Sanjeev Udupi a HIV positive from last 17 years struggled with opposition for his disease from the society for several years. His conviction to live has not stopped. He has won awards from Karnataka state, working for the cause of HIV and lives in a house worth over Rs.10 lakhs. In this film he appears for 45 minutes on screen with another homo sexual.

On Tuesday morning at Green House Raj Milan Sanjeev was on the dais explaining his ordeals in life. Most of the people considered him as scrap and he should die not mix with the people. It was Veena Dhari (An HIV-positive person Veenadhari contracted the disease from her husband many years ago) who brought courage in him. Veena Dhari was a social worker and activist for the rights of HIV/AIDS infected persons. Today Sanjeev Udupi is heading the Aasare Charitable Trust.

According to Sanjeeva there are 3.5 lakh HIV positive out of this 18000 are children. Even if two out of 100 like us will be good lead a life he says.
