Sankranti Releases: Film Councils clarify once again

The ongoing controversy surrounding the Sankranti releases, including Mahesh Babu's 'Guntur Kaaram', Venkatesh's 'Saindhav', Nagarjuna's 'Naa Saami Ranga', Teja Sajja's 'Hanu Man', and the withdrawal of Ravi Teja's 'Eagle', has yet to subside. Amidst these issues, accusations have surfaced against Dil Raju, alleging undue pressure on filmmakers and producers to secure the release of his films during Sankranti, coupled with veiled threats to deter others.

In response to the negative reports, Dil Raju expressed his frustration and issued a warning against websites spreading unfavorable news, vowing severe action to protect his reputation. Despite previous clarifications from the Telugu Film Council, Telangana State Film Council, and Telugu Film Producers Council on the Sankranti releases, the controversy persists.

To address the ongoing situation, these three prominent organizations released a letter to the media, offering further clarification. The letter states:

"In the context of Sankranti releases, our three organizations convened a meeting 15 days ago, inviting the five producers involved in the Sankranti race to discuss the ground reality and encourage cooperation. Annually, Sankranti witnesses film competition, and this year is no exception with five films lined up: 'Hanuman,' 'Eagle', 'Saindhav', 'Guntur Karam', and 'Na Sami Ranga'.

With the collaborative efforts of T.G. Vishwa Prasad, Vivek, and Mass Hero Ravi Teja, the release date for 'Eagle' was shifted to February 9 following the Chamber's request. This commendable act of a mass hero adjusting his release date for the benefit of the film industry reflects positively on the development of the industry. Similarly, in the Sankranti race, Hero Rajinikanth and Hero Dhanush cooperated by postponing their movies, while Hero Siva Karthikeyan's Tamil movie was rescheduled to Jan 19th after discussions with the producers.

Sankranti symbolizes healthy competition among films in a positive environment. Our three organizations, in the context of Telugu cinema, are taking the lead to ensure no hero, producer, or director faces unnecessary challenges. Regrettably, certain social media websites and other media outlets are creating an unfavorable atmosphere by publishing biased articles during Sankranti to boost ratings and TRPs.

We strongly condemn such actions and emphasize that before publishing articles, these entities should contact our three organizations to verify the facts. Reporting the truth is acceptable, but tarnishing reputations out of personal jealousy is unacceptable. Writing articles without a complete understanding of artists' or producers' statements can cause turmoil in the industry.

Henceforth, appropriate action will be taken against those who publish disturbing articles on social media and other platforms. We aim to maintain a healthy and harmonious atmosphere in the industry, where every film can succeed, contributing to the overall growth of the industry.

This letter will be forwarded to each journalist association and media association, urging appropriate action against those making derogatory comments detrimental to the Telugu film industry's association with the media.
