Director and actor Samuthirakani has played the lead roles in several movies, and he was last seen playing the lead in the Thamira directorial Aan Devathai released last year. His next movie in a lead role, Kolanji directed by Dhanaram Saravanan and co-starring Sangavi is all set to release on July 26.

Currently, Samuthirakani is acting in lead role in the film Vellai Yaanai, which is directed by Subramaniam Siva, who had previously made movies like Thiruda Thirudi, Pori, Yogi and Seedan besides starring in supporting roles in several movies like Vada Chennai.

It has been now announced that Vellai Yaanai will have music scored by Santhosh Narayanan. Earlier, Samuthirakani was a part of Kaala and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum which had music by Santhosh Narayanan. Vellai Yaanai is about agriculture and also stars Manam Kothi Paravai heroine Athmiya and Yogi Babu.
