Sarkar 3 Review

Expectations

The year 2005 was one of the best year for Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan. Both had their share of super hit films along with all those films where their performances were highly appreciated.

'Sarkar' was one such movie where both father and son were phenomenally great. The movie despite of being inspired from a Hollywood classic, ended up being one of the best films from that time. The makers went ahead and made a sequel to it, which ended up on a satisfactory level and now after such a long gap are back with its third franchise in the form of 'Sarkar 3'.

The past success of this franchise along with presence of some talented names, the movie looks like a good watch and has a dedicated audience waiting for it.

Story

'Sarkar 3' continues the tale of Subhash Nagre also known as Sarkar (Amitabh Bachchan) and his non parallel government consisting of his trust worthy Gokul (Ronit Roy) and Raman (Parag Tyagi). A businessman names Gandhi (Bajrangi Singh) approaches Sarkar for a land poaching based deal. Sarkar rejects that deal and this starts the enimity between Gandhi and Sarkar. Gandhi seeks help of local politician Deshpande (Manoj Bajpayee) and his mother (Rohini Hattangadi). On the other side Sarkar's grandson Shivaji Nagre (Amit Sadh) joins him and starts overpowering Gokul and Raman. Gandhi's boss Micheal Vally (Jackie Shroff) starts planning and plotting against Sarkar leading to series of unexpected events.

The 'Glitz' Factor

The story starts with some powerful scenes which sets the right mood for the film. The first half has its share of good and interesting scenes especially featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpayee. These scenes are interesting as well as highly powerful. The cold power of Amitabh Bachchan is totally worthy. There are few outstanding dialogues based on Amitabh Bachchan and Manoj Bajpayee.

The 'Ganpati Aarti' by Amitabh Bachchan is good followed by the 'Govinda Govinda' track in the background. There are some engaging moments and good performance by the lead actor but besides that there is nothing new nor interesting for the viewers to cherish.

Amitabh Bachchan as Sarkar, still has the same fire as he had in the earlier films. The ace actor has managed to do his job with total grace. Manoj Bajpayee is good in his part and adds the interest value in the film. Ronit Roy lends good support.

The 'Non-Glitz' Factor

The screenplay is not up to the mark. The scenes are randomly placed and lacks the novelty factor. The scenes are repetitive as well as highly predictable.

The second half is predictable and stale in terms of creativity. The happenings are shown in hasty manner and fails to connect with the viewers. The abrupt back to back similar scenes ends up making you claustrophobia after a while.

Jackie Shroff and his dumb girlfriend track is unintentionally funny as well as cheap and out of place. The writers have tried to narrate the story around all the other actors and have hardly done justice to the caliber of Amitabh Bachchan and the mammoth character of Sarkar.

The cinematography is dull and abrupt at few places. The random cuts and close up shots of unwanted objects dilutes the flow of the film. The rest of the background score, it's jarring as well as torturous.

Director Ram Gopal Varma has lost its magical tough since long time and despite of that with every release of his, the audience kept expecting him to return back with his midas touch. The grading of Sarkar franchise has gone from good bad and now average.

'Sarkar 3' is not a bad film but is not a great nor an exciting film. Amit Sadh is loud and jarring. Bajrangi Singh, Yami Gautam, Rohini Hattangadi, Parag Tyagi and Supriya Pathak are highly wasted. Jackie Shroff overacts.

Final 'Glitz'

'Sarkar 3' is like a squeaky roar due to bad screenplay and lethargic direction. The movie had all the potential to become big just like a mighty roar of a lion.
