AIADMK rival factions get party names and symbols

The rival factions of Sasikala led AIADMK and the one led by OPS staked claim for the 'Two leaves' symbol, that the Election Commission temporarily froze for the upcoming April 12 RK Nagar by-elections.
The parties were asked to choose their symbols and names by Thursday morning.
The Sasikala led AIADMK chose its party name as 'AIADMK Amma' with their symbol being an 'Hat'. The OPS clan also came up with the party name as 'AIADMK Amma', which the EC denied. The party's name was then tweaked as 'AIADMK Puratchi Thalaivi Amma' and were given the symbol of an 'Electricity poll' to contest the elections.
