Director Ponram has been known for directing three movies with Siva Karthikeyan, and among them the director's debut Varuthapadatha Valibar Sangam and Rajinimurugan were hits. The director and actor had last worked together in Seemraraja released last year.

Next Ponram has two movies planned, one with Sasikumar and another with Vijay Sethupathi which will be produced by Karthik Subbaraj and will start next year. Now Ponram is all set to begin his next movie starring Sasikumar and this will be a rural entertainer.

Earlier this movie was supposed to have Rajkiran playing an important role and now he has been replaced by Sathyaraj. The latest speculation making rounds is that this movie has been titled as MGR Magan. An official announcement on the complete cast and crew is expected soon.
