The worst rains in over a century have created mayhem in Hyderabad. Incessant rains have resulted in stray accidents, flooding of low-lying areas, power supply interruption and more. About 192mm rainfall was recorded in the last 24hours.

The Indian Meteorological Department has said that the next 12 hours are crucial. Rains are expected to weaken by Wednesday night.

As per reports, the falling of a bounder in Bandlaguda on Tuesday night killed eight. So far, 14 individuals have died in the State.

The KCR government on Wednesday declared a holiday till Thursday night for all private institutions, offices and all non-essential services within the ORR region. A work from home advisory has been issued in this regard.

"People are advised to stay indoors unless it’s an emergency. Authorities have disconnected power supply in most parts since Tuesday as a measure of abundant caution in order to avoid eventualities. It’s being restored depending upon colony conditions," authorities said.

As per official data, the GHMC alone received 663 grievance calls till late Tuesday night. From complaints against waterlogging, drainage overflow and tree-felling, complaints were of different kinds. "Disaster Relief Force teams are racing against the clock trying to normalize the situation in the city. Over 200 complaints have been received and teams are engaged in Rescue of citizens, Clearing water stagnations, treefalls and Citizen assistance calls," the Director of EV&DM, GHMC, said.
