Education has become a costly affair in the country not to mention the ironically debilitating quality of the same. A recent incident in Kolkata where a student was expelled as parents were unable to pay the hiked fees comes off as a disappointment.

AI Hamsa WSA School in Kolkata has been hiking the school fee by a whopping 87 % over the last two years.When the father of the student Aslam requested extra time to pay the same, the school ended up handing the transfer certificate to him. “My son was kept waiting outside the chairman’s office for three days, and  when I approached them they issued transfer certificate stating I cannot afford to pay the fee,”  Aslam said.

Aslam has now taken the issue to the notice of the Chief Minister’s office following which the Education Department is currently looking into the matter.
