Selena Gomez recently talked about her career trajectory, which insinuated a move away from music to more acting roles while intimating that her next album might be her last effort on the music front.

Speaking on the SmartLess podcast with host Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, the Only Murders in the Building star took her fans down memory lane of her music journey, acknowledging she was in search of steady ground in her career.

After having juggled a career in music and starring in the TV show "Wizards," Gomez said she had taken a break at the age of 21 because of her tiredness. She confessed to having sought help at the mental health facility and cancelling a tour due to overwhelming work stress.

Alluding to possibly one more album and hinting at her inclination toward acting, Gomez emphasized that she was tired and worked hard all throughout. While music was her baby, as she said, it's definitely time to take a backseat.

Looking back into her singing debut via the Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place,” Gomez highlights that she says Disney helped to develop her music skills by pushing and pushing her into recording music after she sang the show’s theme.

She admitted her struggle with music unexpectedly, underscoring her love for storytelling using the songs she writes, though she did not see herself as someone who could sing so well.

On top of her ventures in the entertainment industry, Gomez also spoke about her venture into the cosmetic world with Rare Beauty, a brand she founded during the period of COVID-19, showcasing other forms of her entrepreneurial pursuits apart from her artistic enterprises.
