Senior Mandrake

Making sequel is never an easy thing. If Ali Akbar had been inspired by the success of the sequels like `To Harihar Nagar', he must have at least studied deeply why these movies had wonder runs at the Box Office. Just resorting to buffoonery and recreating the good scenes of the original hit with no grace, will never ensure the success of any movie commercially or critically. And what is left is a worthless exercise that creates one the most badly made movie of our times.

Even if you agree that the storyline about the statue that brings in ill fate to whoever possessing it is a subject that can be made lively even in its second round, the below par production values, idiotic direction together with screen performances never qualify it to one movie that can be released even in the television circuits.

The storyline is stuck around Kuttan Pillai (Jagathy) and Sahrudhayan (Jagadheesh) who after trying ways to get away from the dangerous effects of the statue decides to make profit of it by selling its pieces to every kinds of social elites, who uses them to get better of their business and political enemies. There are a few new characters added to the original like Inspector Kidikku (Suraj Venjaramoodu) and mentally sick Balan (Salim Kumar) whose attempts at comedy by mimicking themselves really make the viewers sick. With worse lighting and camera work, shot divisions, choreography, animations and songs, this can be easily named as one movie that can make a long standing effect on viewers by keeping away from the theatres for long.

This is also a movie that may also fetch the award for the worst production and art direction. It is extremely predictable for you to become numb and speechless after watching this mayhem for its 151 minutes. If you have the spirits to be with such a bad omen, just watch the horror which was originally intended to be a slapstick comedy. On the whole, `Senior Mandrake' is a bad product and definitely made with some bad intentions of making profit from the satellite and television rights.

Advised for that rarest group that loves mad, whacky and zany movies.
