Shahid Kapoor, known for his captivating performances, is stepping into the realm of mythological drama after his last venture in "Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya". Teaming up with Vashu Bhagnani who is bankrolling the project under the Pooja Entertainements banner, Shahid is set to portray a mythological hero for the first time, marking a significant shift in his diverse repertoire. The announcement of this groundbreaking venture was made at Amazon Prime’s recent event, much to the anticipation of fans and enthusiasts alike.

Titled "Ashwatthama – The Saga Continues", the film embarks on a journey into the lore of the immortal warrior Ashwatthama from the epic Mahabharata, a figure believed to transcend time and still walk among us. Set against the backdrop of contemporary times characterized by rapid technological advancement and humanity's remarkable prowess, the narrative unfolds as Ashwatthama navigates the complexities of the modern world, engaging in adrenaline-pumping confrontations with formidable adversaries.

Delving deep into the psyche of an immortal entity thrust into the chaos of the present era, the film offers a compelling exploration of Ashwatthama's perspective, shedding light on how he perceives a world he has observed for millennia. With Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani spearheading the project, their vision is to craft a visual masterpiece that promises audiences an unparalleled cinematic experience. The project is slated to be a grand spectacle, boasting a global VFX team and an ensemble cast drawn from the diverse talent pool of the Indian film industry. Shahid Kapoor's commitment to the role of Ashwatthama is evident as he prepares to undergo rigorous physical training to authentically embody the character.

Meanwhile, filmmaker Aditya Dhar had also expressed interest in bringing Ashwatthama's saga to the silver screen with Vicky Kaushal in the lead role. However, citing the monumental scale of the project, Dhar acknowledged the challenges posed by budget constraints, ultimately leading to the realization that such an ambitious endeavor might be beyond the scope of Indian cinema's current landscape.
