The unexpected box office run of 'Cycle' with new comers have given an air of relief to a number of small films that are in the making. Suresh Palanchery's debut venture 'Salabham' is one such movie which will get released in a short while, expecting a follow through.

Featuring young actor Sudheesh in the lead after a long time, 'Salabham' also have Remya Nambeeshan in the female lead. Suresh was a long time assistant to Lohithadas, Sundardas and Kamal.

`Salabham' has a backdrop of a silent village where age old rituals and superstitions rules the roost. The film investigates on how some irrational beliefs and practices can ruin the lives of group of people, who lives with lots of prejudices in a lone hamlet. The film   pans the life of Hari, who strives hard to attain success in life.

Hari is the only son of Kumaran who runs a local tea stall while Hari's only childhood pal Meera is now a young lady who still loves to be in the company of very young children. Hari is too different from the normal youth, who never waste time on petty interests or entertainments. He is very focused on his paths and his undeviated spirits helped him to earn a degree and enter government service at a younger age.

On the other hand, Meera was always after Hari. But he never considered Meera, anything more than a normal friend, and in the course of events Hari marries a wealthy girl from the village, Akhila. The marriage of Hari induces a lot of ill happenings in the life of Meera'. Much of the villagers started believing that Meera is having some kind of mental illness. Her companionship with younger children was one of the reasons that ignited certain superstitious beliefs about her. Gradually the village begins to alienate Meera and her mother. The film follows the life of Hari and Meera and what is in store for them in future, as their fates starts to play foul on them.

Veteran scriptwriter Madambu Kunji Kuttan pens the script for 'Shalabham'. After 'Pandhaya Kozhi' Sudheesh and Remya Nambeeshan are again coming together for this film which also have in the cast Mala Aravindhan, Mamukoyya, Rajan Padoor, K P A C Lalitha, Bindu Vaarapuzha and Nilamboor Ayisha.
