'Tamizh Padam 2' is exceeding all expectations and has become one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. Directed by C.S. Amudhan who who helmed the 2010 'Tamizh Padam' has made this one another enjoyable ride teaming up with Shiva and Y Not Studios Sashikanth again.

Though C.S. Amudhan is the pioneer of the spoof genre in Tamil cinema, in the past too there have been films in which it has been partially used especially in songs and comedy scenes. Way back in 1964 in the classic 'Navarathri' Savithri the heroine will end up in a mental institution and there is a spoof song "Naatukulle Thiruvizha" in which funny replace many a super hit song of the time.

Ramanarayanan in his 'Payalayathu Amman' released in 2000 wrote a full comedy track for Vivek which spoofed Sivaji Ganesan's famous court room dialogue from 'Parasakthi' and the Sun Tv interview of Yagava Munivar and Dance Saamiyaar. The film was a blockbuster powered by the religious content and the spoof sequences in equal measure.

The Mani Ratnam production 'Dum Dum Dum' had a scene in which Chinni Jayanth and Vivek spoofed the ace director's celebrated 'Nayagan'.

Sathyaraj in his 'Englishkaaran', 'Kalyana Kalaatta' and 'Mahanadigan' spoofed among other things Vijayakanth political speeches, Ravi Krishna, Dhanush voice modulation and even Kalaigniar Karunanidhi. Gowndamani and Vichithra spoofed Jack and Rose from 'Titanic' in 'Ponnu Veettu Kaaran'.

The success of 'Tamizh Padam 2' will obviously encourage more filmmakers to come up with spoofs and we hear a strong buzz that 'Tamil Padam 3' will begin sooner rather than later considering the box office verdict.
