Shocking: 500 resignations in medical field in Bengal

The Doctors' Strike in West Bengal is only getting worse. It's known that thousands of doctors are protesting the recent attacks on a hospital by a mob, against which the State government has failed to act.

Latest reports say that 500 professionals in the medical field have resigned in protest against the Mamata Banerjee government's "indifference". They are professors, assistant professors, doctors, etc. "It will take many years for the government to undo this damage. The Chief Minister is proving to be totally inefficient in handling the crisis," a commentator says.

What is worse, Mamata has said that BJP doesn't want doctors to treat Muslim patients. "Mamata Bannerji said that the BJP had ordered doctors not to treat Muslim patients. Does this not amount to incitement to communal violence?" asks Tavleen Singh, a columnist.

The IMA has called for a nation-wide strike of doctors on Monday.
