Shot-Gun Sinha takes a dig at the BJP and Prime Minister Modi

Actor-turned-politician and senior BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha (known as ‘Shot-gun Sinha’ for his witty and instant replies) has taken the party and its leaders to task for the Lok Sabha by-poll reverses suffered by the Party in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

The BJP lost two Lok Sabha seats (Gorakhpur and Phulpu) and one Lok Sabha seat in Bihar (Araria) to the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and to the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) respectively. The humiliating aspect was that Gorakhpur had earlier been held many times by Uttar Pradesh chief-minister Yogi Adityanath who quit as M.P. last year soon after the BJP’s victory in U.P. Assembly polls to become the State’s chief-minister.

Even as the BJP high-command has been scratching its head to find out the reasons for the defeat, Sinha said on his Twitter account that it was the BJP’s arrogant over-confidence which made it bite the dust. “I have repeatedly been saying that the party had been arrogant and over-confident. This could cause the downfall of anyone: be it Donald Trump or any other leader,” Sinha tweeted.

“The defeats have an important message to the party which has to set its ship in order in time to face next year’s Lok Sabha polls. People appear to be angry on the BJP Govt. at the Centre and we have to take urgent and positive decisions and hopefully, by the Almighty’s grace, we would tide over the grim situation. I feel for my friend Yogi Adityanath as the BJP has lost in his constituency,” Sinha’s tweets said.
