The ICC has reportedly turned down the BCCI's request to boycott Pakistan at the World Cup. The news has not gone down well with many in India.

In the light of the ICC's refusal to do to Pakistan what was done to South Africa during the apartheid era, commentators are saying that BCCI and the Indian government shouldn't take it lying down. Writes R Jagannathan, "Time to boycott and set up a rival cricket organisation and new national teams substantially funded by Indian money. If Kerry Packer could do it and challenge the cricket establishment of his day surely a richer BCCI backed by GOI can do so. ICC turfed SA out in 1979 for racism."

Writes @sootradhar, "The BCCI should now announce a blanket ban on playing Pakistan at any ICC tournaments. Also, Indian companies sponsoring ICC events must make it clear that no revenue should accrue for any Pakistan game."

However, not all agree that the ball is in the ICC's court. Says Tufail Ahmad, "Sorry, but why should ICC ban Pakistan if India itself is incapable of declaring Pakistan a state sponsor of terror? India's cowardice is the issue, not cricket or ICC."
