SIFCC no films to UFO and QUBE

The South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce in an emergency meeting in Bengaluru on Friday evening has decided not to supply films to UFO and QUBE operators from March 2.

This is because of exorbitant rates charged by the two operators in addition to earning lakhs of rupees via advertisements. The SIFCC in its two meeting in Hyderabad and Chennai suggested for 25 percent cut in the tariff. The UFO and QUBE that gives free service to English films failed to agree to SIFCC call. They came forward to 9 percent slash on pricing. SIFCC is not ready to budge.

As a result there will be no new films for UFO and QUBE from six states of South India. This announcement was made in the presence of SIFCC Ravi Kottarkar by KFCC President Sa Ra Govidu.

We are in the process of bringing a parallel system to UFO ad QUBE system of screening films. They charge for south Indian films ranging from Rs.14000 to 27000.

At the initial stages UFO came with just Rs.50. they have gone up to 27000 rupees. They make lakhs of rupees in the advertisement. We have asked for share to distributor and producer from such earning as the main product is given from film industry. They never bothered to look in to it.

KFCC members MG Ramamurthy, Chandraekhar, Narasimhulu, NM Suresh and others were present at the emergency media briefing.
