Silambarasan's 49th film, directed by Ramkumar Balakrishnan, based on a college subject. On his birthday (Feb 3), Silambarasan announced three movies, including 'STR 49' after completing 'Thug Life' with Kamal Haasan. His 50th movie will be directed by Desingh Periyasamy, followed by Aswath Marimuthu's direction for the 51st film.

Reports suggest comedian Santhanam might join 'STR 49'. The film will focus on comedy, and Silambarasan is keen on casting Santhanam, who played a major role in the success of 'Madha Gaja Raja'. Since Silambarasan launched Santhanam’s film career, it is expected that he will agree to be part of this movie. Santhanam is currently working on 'DD Next Level' and may join Silambarasan’s film afterward.

As the film revolves around college life, shooting is planned to take place in educational institutions. Filming is scheduled for April-May with a short production period. Anirudh was initially considered for the music, but now sources indicate Sai Abhyankar will compose the soundtrack. Casting, including the heroine, is currently underway.

Meanwhile, Aswath Marimuthu’s 'Dragon' project's first look featured the tagline, "God does not come to Earth due to fear of love... But what if he comes defying it?" His next fantasy-love subject is expected to begin shooting in May. There are discussions about shooting 'STR 49' and the 51st film simultaneously. In 2024, Silambarasan's major releases will be 'Thug Life' and 'STR 49'.
