Silly Fellows is a fun ride: Sunil

Sunil awaits the release of 'Silly Fellows' on Sept 7. In this interview, he talks about the kind of movie it's, working with Allari Naresh, being back to doing comedy roles and more.

What kind of a film is 'Silly Fellows'?

More than logic, it's about magic. It's a fun ride throughout. The entire family can watch it happily. Jayaprakash Reddy garu's humour in the second half is there for about 20 minutes. It's a laugh riot and will be a major highlight of the movie.

How was it teaming up with Allari Naresh?

I and Allari Naresh have acted in the past. So, it was not a new feeling. Although he is the film's hero, my character has a lot of importance.

Isn't it a remake? What is in store? Are there not nativity issues?

Although it's the remake of a Tamil movie, the climax is different. The last 30 minutes have been changed and they are in the style of Bheemineni Sreenivasa Rao. Comedies transcend boundaries. They are universal. We enjoy watching the comedy in Tamil, Malayalam and other movies.

Why have we not seen you in comedy roles since 'Maryada Ramanna'?

I never consciously decided that I should not do comedy roles. After 'Andala Ramudu', I continued to play comedy roles till 'Maryada Ramanna'. But after this film, everybody thought I will do only hero's roles and so, nobody approached me for comedy roles. Moreover, I was having continuous commitments as a male lead. I don't bother about successes and failures. How the other person receives us depends on how we react.

Have you stopped acting as a hero?

I am not doing any film as a solo hero right now. But there are two films in the pipeline. If the characters in the movie suit my body language, I will go in for them.

You are doing a role in 'Aravindha Sametha'. Tell us about the experience.

Trivikram Srinivas told me that he had some doubts as to how I will do the role in the movie since it has been long since I worked with him. But I had no blocks. I just carried myself the way I always do. Besides this movie, I am also doing Ravi Teja's 'Amar Akbar Anthony'.

Do you plan things?

I am not planning my moves. I have been ticking my checklist all these years. I started off as an Assistant Director when my aim was to become a villain. I was a side dancer in 'Srikaram' movie. As an AD, I had prepared three stories as well. If anybody finds them good, I am ready to give it to them. If I feel like turning into a director, I will become one. But I have no such plans as of now.
