It was recently revealed that Simbu would be playing the lead role in the spin-off of the 2013 blockbuster comedy film Idharkku Thaane Aasaipattai Balakumara, titled 'Corona Kumar.' The film is directed by Gokul, who also helmed the original movie.

The latest update from sources regarding the movie is that Siddharth Vipin, who composed the soundtrack of IAB, will be joining hands with 'Maanagaram' music director Javed Riaz to compose the music for the film. Speaking about the project, director Gokul had reportedly said earlier, "The film, though following the humorous take that Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara is known for, will also have an underlying message. At such testing times, we should be more disciplined and fearless, but unfortunately, we’re being fearful and less disciplined. The film will feature some of the most loved characters from the original film and what they are made to face during the lockdown."

While the official announcements regarding 'Corona Kumar' are yet to be made, Simbu is expected to start shooting for the film soon after he returns to Chennai. Vijay Sethupathi, who played the lead role in the original version, is also reportedly making a cameo appearance in the movie.
