Popular production house Vels Films International headed by Ishari Ganesh filed a court case against top hero Simbu alleging that he is not honoring an agreement to act in a film for the company. Today the case came up for hearing and the Madras High Court was informed by Simbu's council that the advannce money received for acting in the film 'Corona Kumar' is not required to be returned as per the contract.

A few years back Vels Films International decided to produce a film under the name 'Corona Kumar' directed by Gokul and signed an agreement with actor Simbu. The case that was filed in the Chennai High Court, claimed that Simbu was signed Rs 9.5 crores for acting in this film, and Rs 4.5 crores was given as an advance in 2021.

In a previous hearing it was mentioned that only one crore rupees was given to Silambarasan. Subsequently, the court ordered Silambarasan to pay a surety of one crore rupees as per the agreement.

When this petition came up for hearing again today before Judge Abdul Kuddoos, lawyer Vijayan Subramanian appeared on behalf of Silambarasan and said that the contract signed on July 16, 2021 for the film 'Corona Kumar' has expired. He also pointed out that the contract had a clause that if the film does not start within one year from the date of signing of the contract, there is no need to return the advance money. He filed a copy of the agreement stating that the petitioners filed the case hiding this information.

Simbu's side also pressed that said that he does not need to pay back one crore rupees as there is no fault on his part and now he has signed another film after giving ample time. After this, time was requested on behalf of Vels to respond to actor Silambarasan's reply. Giving time till October 6, the judge said that whether actor Silambarasan should file a surety of Rs 1 crore will be examined on that day.

Simbu is currently set to act in a new movie 'STR 48' directed by Desingh Periyasamy and produced by Kamal Haasan. The historical film in which he plays dual roles has been delayed due to this case and remains to be seen how things will be sorted out smoothly.
