'Maanadu' is a trendsetting film in Tamil cinema starring Simbu and SJ Suryah and directed by Venkat Prabhu. Produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the banner V House Productions, the political sci-fi film became one of the biggest blockbusters in 2021.

Today marks the first release anniversary of Maanadu. Producer Suresh Kamatchi took to his social media this morning to share a tribute video for Maanadu marking the special occasion. Venkat Prabhu and Simbu's union was announced back in 2018 and the shooting began in August 2019. The project then faced hurdles due to the COVID lockdown.

Maanadu surpassed all the hurdles post the lockdown and emerged as a comeback movie for STR and Venkat Prabhu. It also featured Kalyani Priyadarshan, SA Chandrashekar, YG Mahendran, Premgi Amaren and Karunakaran in supporting roles with the music composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and editing by Praveen KL.
