Simbu, who is undoubtedly one of the most talented actors in Tamil cinema, took a short break from movies post his appearance in the early 2019 film Vantha Rajavathaan Varuven, directed by Sundar. C. The actor is expected to resume shooting for his upcoming film, Maanaadu, directed by Venkat Prabhu, post the lockdown period.

Meanwhile, Simbu's sister Elakkiya took to Instagram earlier today to share a throwback picture of the actor with her son Jason, taken during his pre-birthday celebrations in a five-star hotel in Hyderabad. Simbu is seen cutting a cake with his adorable nephew in the picture. Also, the dashing and stylish look of the actor is being loved by his fans. It was announced in June 2018 that director Venkat Prabhu had decided to launch Simbu in his upcoming political thriller Maanaadu, produced by Suresh Kamatchi under the V House Productions banner. The producer later announced that Simbu, who refused to show up for the shoot, had been dropped out of the movie, as he could not afford any delay in the release. However, he made an announcement a month after that Simbu was back on board and that the shooting was back on in full swing.

Simbu will also be seen in the Tamil remake of Mufti, where he shares screen space with Gautham Karthik. He has signed up to play a cameo role as well in Hansika Motwani's 50th film, Maha, directed by UR Jameel.
