Actor Suriya celebrates his 42nd birthday today.

Suriya is one of the few heroes who remains the top star and also keeps experimenting with different stories and challenging character. He is capable of perfectly fitting in an unabashed masala entertainer like 'Singam' and also give his best for a highly experimental film like '24'.

If you take a list of versatile actors in the history of Tamil cinema. The name Suriya will figure prominently in it. He can play the fit and suave cop in a film (Kaakha Kaakha) and can act as a local conman in his next (Pithamagan) and satisfy the crown as well as critics with both the roles. Even as a cop he has shown enormous difference between Anbuselvan of 'Kaakha Kaakha' and 'Durai Singam' of 'Singam' series of films. Suriya has also carried off the challenging roles in films like 'Perazhagan' (a man with hunchback), 'Maatraan' (conjoined twins) and an old man ('Vaaranam Aayiram' and '24').

After the super hit 'Si3' Suriya's next release will be 'Thaanaa Serndha Koottam; in which he has teamed up with young director Vignesh Shivan. The film will be hitting the screens in a few months. After this Suriya will be teaming up with the highly acclaimed director Selvaraghavan and this is expected to be a path breaking film in the career of both the actor and the director.

Suriya is one of the few Tamil heroes who has turned into producers and have been producing good quality films like '36 Vayathiniley' 'Pasanga 2' and '24' and released this year's critically acclaimed hit film 'Kadugu' under his production banner.
