Harini Rao is a popular playback singer in Telugu cinema who is also famous for her Hindustani classical concerts. Her father A.K. Rao who lived with his family in Srinagar Colony, Hyderabad had gone to Bangalore for a business on November 13 and booked a room at a hotel and later called a taxi to leave the room on November 21.

He had then gone missing and was found dead on the railway tracks between Yelahanka and Rajanukunde next to Bangalore. Railway police have registered a case of murder following the incident.

Police are said to have found scissors and a knife near his body, and cuts on his forehead, wrists and neck. Harini had last spoken to her father on November 19th and is said to be in deep shock after hearing the news.
