Singing beauties

Do you know what is common in Andrea Jeremiah, Sandhya, Mamta Mohandas, Manjari Fadnis? Well, these talented actresses have gone step ahead and been crooning behind the screens, either lending voices for themselves or for others.

It is not only acting business for the actresses these days. They want to do something more and contribute more efforts to cinema. They are keen to develop their talents not only through acting front but also want to explore possibilities in singing too. There are several acting beauties who have created themselves a niche in the rhythm section too, for examples, those mentioned above.

In earlier days, it was necessary for a person to be an all-rounder to qualify as an actor. He/She had to be well versed in acting, singing and dancing. But as times changed what mattered was only looks. Now the trend is back and actors have diverted themselves to be singers.

Coming back to our ladies, these pretty heroines entered into singing world either by luck or by accident. North actress Manjari Fadnis had expressed her wish to sing to Yuvan Shankar Raja and thus earned herself the chance to sing in her first Tamil movie, 'Muthirai'. Whereas Kerala lass, Mamata Mohandas comes from a musical background and so music came naturally for her. She kick started her singing career with Telugu song ‘Rakhee Rakhee’ and now she has several hit Tamil songs, like ‘Daddy Mummy’ from ‘Villu’, in her singing profile.

Luck or accident, the actresses are very much happy and satisfied with their attempts. After their initial doubts, they were glad that they were able to give wonderful songs. While some are willing to accept more singing offers, others wants to concentrate more on acting and sing occasionally. Recently ‘Kadhal’ Sandhya made her singing debut with ‘Manjal Veyyil’ and surprised the audience with her impressive voice at an audio launch. Andrea was acclaimed as an outstanding singer after her first song ‘Kannum Kannum Nokia’ from the movie ‘Anniyan’. And after that offers dropped in for her and she sang for several projects like ‘Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu’, ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’ and ‘Sarvam’. Andrea has “no qualms about singing for others” whereas Mamta has resolved not to sing for others.

Even the directors are being innovative and giving the actors chances to sing in the movies. It becomes easier for them as the heroines voices will match to the character that they are playing the movie.

Well, looks like now the real singers will have a tough time in competing with these singing actresses. Any ways kudos to you ladies!!
