Presenting to you my journey of happiness, pride and love, as a fan watching my favourite star grow not only as an actor, but also as a human being.

Sivakarthikeyan's entry onto Tamil Cinema from Vijay TV is well known. Being from a non-filmy background, winning ‘Kalakka Povathu Yaaru’ is a big feat. I still remember watching ‘Adhu Idhu Yedhu’ and Super Singer more for him, than any of the contestants. With his talent, what better choice than him to host Vijay Awards? Little would he have known, that he himself would receive awards soon.. And then came the entry into cinema. When Sivakarthikeyan got his big break with director Pandiraj in Marina, along with him, all his fans who saw their 'Enga Veetu Pillai'  come up step by step, not by luck, but by sheer hard work, were as overjoyed as him. Luck can give one opportunities maybe, but to make correct use of those opportunities one must have talent and work hard. I can say for sure that his luck did not make me his fan, it was a well-informed choice I made watching him on screen and off screen.

When Marina released, I liked Sivakarthikeyan a lot, but I wouldn't say I was a hard core fan. Ethir Neechal, VVS, Maan Karate, Kaaki Sattai and Rajini Murugan saw Sivakarthikeyan prove his worth again with his acting. But back then I didn't have the level of craze and passion that I have now. So how did that develop? Maybe it is his humility, his gratitude to those who have helped him, his groundedness in the face of stardom, or just the amount of skill he has. Be it romance, comedy, dance, singing, mimicry, action, or sentiment, this man has shown multiple times that he is capable of everything. Slowly I found myself liking him more and more... Waiting eagerly for his movies months before they were to release...

Remo was the first movie of Sivakarthikeyan that I watched in the theatre. And I watched it 4 times in the theatre, and maybe around 25 times at home. There is some valid criticism about some of the scenes in the movie which I will not ignore. Yes, I agree some aspects like stalking should not have been shown. But the movie became a hit due to another reason. It was Sivakarthikeyan's performance. From the beginning to end of the movie, he had my eyes glued to the screen, enjoying every bit of his acting. Needless to say, he was cuteness personified in the film.

From then on I was a fan. A big fan, alright. And I was very happy to be one. Why? Because with every next film Sivakarthikeyan proved that he had integrity. In the Velaikkaran audio launch, Sivakarthikeyan spoke about the impact the film had on him personally. He took a stance that he would not act in any more advertisements because no negative consequence should be inflicted on anyone watching it. SK is learning through life just like us. But his choices show that he is trying to become a better and more responsible actor and person, and this makes me proud to be his fan.

In December 2017, when I watched Velaikkaran, I never thought it would change my life, but after that movie, I completely stopped consuming chips, noodles, and soft drinks, practically overnight. When even my mother couldn’t convince me to stop, Sivakarthikeyan did. This is the extent to which he has a positive impact on my life. Beyond this, in all the low moments of my life, he has been a source of joy and hopes to lift up my spirits. I will be ever grateful to Sivakarthikeyan for all this.

From helping people monetarily for medical purposes and education, sponsoring the care of a white tiger, to supporting his friend Arunraja Kamaraj through his production venture, SK has done it all. With not showing smoking in any of his movies, the actor has also taken successful steps to cut drinking scenes in Mr. Local. I don't know many people will make such moves, but I know to see him do that made me very happy and proud.

SK’s choice of the script may not be the best sometimes, but his performance never disappoints me. The film may be declared average, the reviews may be horrible, but his acting, his dance, his comedy, and just his overall screen presence seem just as amazing to me. His growth in the industry has been fast and Sivakarthikeyan is working with top actors and directors. All this is not without struggle. On one hand, it is difficult to navigate one's way in the industry, on the other hand, there are many trying to push him down. Honestly, if they spent their time focusing on themselves, their chances of making it big would be more. I hope everything is just a learning experience which will make him stronger. And of course, Sivakarthikeyan has enough and more of us fans ready to support him through the highs and lows.

It’s been 7 years since SK joined Kollywood. Looking forward now, I hope for three things: Firstly, that Sivakarthikeyan chooses more scripts that are as strong as his performance. That he continues to grow as an actor and as a person and reaches out to many more. And last but not least, I sincerely hope that I get the chance to meet Sivakarthikeyan, a person who has changed my life. Wishing my hero all the very best always! Here’s to many more years of entertaining and enlightening others. With love from a fan.
