Nithya Menen has acted and co-produced 'Skylab', which will hit the screens on December 4. In this interview, the versatile actress talks about doing the film, joining hands with Prithvi Pinnamaraju as a producer, her future projects, working with Pawan Kalyan, and more.

Excerpts:

'Skylab' can excite anybody. It's such a superb script. The treatment is novel, especially in Telugu. The story takes place in the backdrop of a village, but the BGM is Western. The paradoxical treatment is something I love.

When director Vishvak Khanderao gave the narration, I decided to do the movie by the time the interval was narrated. During the shoot, I was not involved much in the production-related issues. It's only after the shoot, that I am involved in the tension-inducing issues (laughs).

'Skylab' is an original story. I had not heard about the Skylab before this script came my way. My parents had heard about it when they were young. It's a fantastic idea to make a film around it.

I have no combination scenes with Satyadev and Rahul Ramakrishna. The film is about three characters. Their track is separate from mine. I didn't act with them. They have delivered superb performances. I am very proud.

The BGM was done in Macedonia with a 40-piece orchestra. Western classical music is what you listen to as the BGM in this film. The village backdrop is cinematic because the frames are polished and saturated.

The entire film was shot in sync sound. I have spoken in a Telangana accent. Not a single change was made during the post-production phase. I love the accent because it sounds really beautiful. Director Vishvak felt that the villages of Telangana haven't been explored much in our films.

I am a spontaneous actor. I enjoyed playing this particular role. If you enjoy doing something, there is no struggle. I don't take much time to get into the skin of a character. I know what I have to do when I listen to the narration. This film is more important to me and Prithvi (the other producer) than money.

We did receive OTT offers. Director Vishvak felt that 'Skylab' has to be a theatrical experience. It's true that not many people are coming to theatres these days. When we started out with 'Ala Modalaindi', crowds started coming in two days after its release. 'Skylab' will repeat a similar feat.

I have been shooting continuously. I have done a film with Dhanush in Tamil. It's a beautiful film. I have done a Vijay Sethupathi film in Malayalam. In Telugu, I have 'Bheemla Nayak' and 'Gamanam' coming up. 'Gamanam' is not really my film. I have a 2-minute cameo in it.

'Bheemla Nayak' is my first outing with Pawan Kalyan garu. Trivikram garu called me up first and told me about the character. He said that I am a lady Pawan Kalyan (laughs). Pawan garu is a quiet person. He doesn't talk much. I am a natural and spontaneous performer. He liked my style. A song will be shot on both of us soon. He was surprised to know that I have turned a producer with 'Skylab'.

'Kumari Srimathi' is a web series that I am doing for Amazon Prime. It is directed by a newcomer. I am also planning to produce OTT content.
