Being electrifying, DSP style

A most awaited musical album from the stable of DSP, who joins with Trivikram to belch out catchy numbers.

Raghu Dixit, Sooraj Santosh, Yazin Nazir, DSP, Shravana Bhargavi, Magizhini Manimaran, Vijay Prakash, Sagar, MM Manasi, Javed Ali are the range of singers here.

And the range of lyricists include Ramajogayya Sastry, DSP, Srimani and Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry.

Chal Chalo Chalo

Artist: Raghu Dixit
Lyricist: Ramajogayya Sastry

It’s Trivikram Srinivas’ way of conceptualizing a song that exhorts men and women to race ahead and zoom ahead.  It was Run Run number in Julayi.  More or less, we have a song on similar lines.  Ramajogayya Sastry writes meaningful lyrics that are simple to understand yet evocative.  Raghu Dixit’s voice has an uncanny similarity to that of DSP.  A good instrumentation work by the redoubtable DSP, yet there is a sense of déjà vu.

One & Two & Three

Artist: Sooraj Santosh
Lyricist: DSP

The song is shorter than expected.  The tuning here and there has a resemblance to a song from ‘Julayi’.  A good number made better by Sooraj Santosh’s vocals that strike a sense of familiarity.  DSP tries his hand at writing colorful lyrics.

Seethakalam

Artist: Yazin Nazir
Lyricist: Srimani

Srimani’s lyrics here are devoid of unnecessary corruptions.  The thought is conveyed in splendid language, even as DSP gets Western only in between and not all over.  As it is, there is English-language toppings, but it is entirely unDSP, music-wise.  Yazin Nazir’s vocals are very fresh and lend a degree of newness to this romantic number.  This is surely going to be on the chartbusters and also a hit after the film’s release.

Super Machi

Artist: DSP, Shravana Bhargavi, Magizhini Manimaran
Lyricist: DSP

What is a good DSP album without the customary item song that borders on double entendre?  DSP proves yet again he is the best when it comes to belting out music for hummable item songs.  He excels here not only as a musician, but also as a singer and even a lyricist.  That’s an achievement in itself.  Unlike his previous songs as lyricist, DSP gets prolific and verbose here.  It’s not easy to follow it at the first instance.  Surely, there are more number of words than two songs have in them nowadays.  Super Machi is going to be the next Aa ante amalapuram and Ringa Ringa.

Come to the party

Artist: Vijay Prakash
Lyricist: Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry

It’s fun to listen to a less than reverent Sirivennela.  This song is an example of what a profound lyricist can write when he dabbles with a zanily creative musician like DSP and a witty director like Trivikram.  Excellent entertainment is assured by all the analogies that don’t unfortunately graduate into metaphors.  Vijay Prakash’s solid vocals are there to lend it a huge class as well as mass appeal.  DSP gets his tune right, the beats are electrifying and the number hummable.

Jaaruko

Artists: Sagar, MM Manasi
Lyricist: Srimani

The song is verbose and the lyrics are expectedly from Srimani.  The lyrics are rooted in local language as well as international language.  Sagar’s voice suits Allu Arjun.  MM Manasi’s vocals are catchy.  DSP fares less than expected here, the song descends into sub-standard quality after a while.

Vacchadu

Artist: Javed Ali
Lyricist: DSP

It’s quite unlikely a song in a Trivikram album.  DSP peps an otherwise old-fashioned yet appealing conceptualization with his innovative tuning.  This one is one of the most creatively hatke songs from DSP in a long time.  Javed Ali’s booming voice is entertaining and is apt for a massy song like this.  DSP is at his lyrical best here, yet again.

Verdict: A different offering in part, not totally.  At least three songs are sure to be on the chartbusters for sure.  It's a revelation from lyricists like Sirivennela and DSP himself.

Rating: 3.25/5
