After the success of ‘Garudan’, actor Soori's next film ‘Maman’ has created a strong buzz among audiences. Directed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj, who previously delivered the popular web series ‘Vilangu’, the film's trailer has received overwhelming appreciation online. Set to release this Friday, the film promises a heartfelt family drama.
The director shared, “After ‘Vilangu’, producer Kumar from Lark Studios approached me to make a film with Soori. I had some story ideas, but Soori anna himself suggested a family drama concept he had. That became the foundation of ‘Maman’.”
Addressing if the film focuses on a specific relationship like the maternal uncle bond, the director clarified, “All families have love and conflicts. We’ve built a story around small misunderstandings that lead to bigger issues and how families come back together. This isn’t just about one relationship; it touches on many—sibling bonds, mother-son, husband-wife, grandparents, and more. Everyone will relate to it.”
The director also spoke about the deeper theme: “Even if people move away for work, they reconnect with their roots during festivals or temple events. This film reminds us of the joy that comes from family connections without being preachy.”
Soori, known for his relatable image, is said to be the perfect fit for the film’s emotional and realistic character. The cast features many familiar faces including Swasika as his sister, Aishwarya Lekshmi as the female lead, and child actor Prakith Sivan. Other notable actors include Rajkiran, Baba Bhaskar, and Vimala Sankar. The film captures the essence of a complete family experience on screen.
