Legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam passed away on September 25, at 1:04 PM after battling for two months with Coronavirus. Two days after the loss, his son, singer SP Charan has posted a video on his social media handle regarding several rumours on the payment of hospital bills.

SP Charan shared a video where he said "It’s unfortunate regarding Dad, we are all saddened. We as a family are grieving. It’s an impromptu live session, I don’t know if this is the right place to put this up, but it is required that I do talk about something. It’s unfortunate there are rumours going around about the MGM hospital and the payments regarding Dad’s treatment. We were in the hospital from August 5… Appa passed away on September 25, this last Friday. There are rumours about the amount that was charged and the balance we had to pay and that I had requested the state government to help me out, and later requested the Vice President to help us out and he reciprocated. This is all a hogwash, I don’t know why people do this without even consulting people, they don’t seem to realise how offensive and hurting it is to the people associated with this issue. It is very disheartening that we have people around like this. These can’t be fans of SPB, because SPB will not do something like this. He is not somebody who hurts people. He is somebody who would forgive the person who has been spreading rumours."

Charan further said "I would like to say that I forgive this gentleman, but he needs to grow up, get some sense into him and do the right thing. He has no knowledge about what the treatment was and who had paid how much, I am not going to give any details right now, because me and the hospital are going to do a press conference together to muff all these rumours that are going on. It is sad that we have to do this. It is sad that one person’s action causes inconvenience to so many people. The person or people who are spreading all these rumours, god bless you all, that’s all I can say. I should end this live session saying, we as a family are completely grateful for everything that MGM healthcare Chennai has done for us, for my father as a patient and for us as a family who were attending and taking care of my father. I miss going to the hospital, meeting all the doctors who have been taking care of my father. I miss each and every nurse, MD Dr. Prashanth, chairman Rajagopalan who has been sending me prayers every morning relentlessly without failure. The details about bills, they will come out soon, until then please don’t spread these rumours. You don’t seem to understand the amount of people you are causing hurt to. Please take care and god bless you all. We owe a lot as a family to MGM healthcare. I should also iterate that when MGM had called Apollo hospitals for help regarding an equipment, Apollo hospital were very kind to pass on the equipment immediately for treatment of my father."
