Multiple award-winning playback singer S.P. Balasubrahmanyam has been in critical condition in a private hospital in Chennai for the week or so.  He was admitted on the 5th of August after testing positive for COVID 19 and his health deteriorated from the 13th night.  Rumors started spreading throughout the day that his heart rate was reducing and that he had bleeding in his lungs as well.

MGM Hospitals has posted an update that has squashed the rumours and has cleared the air that SPB's condition remains the same as yesterday and he is under ventilator ECMO support.

On August 20th from 6 pm to 6.05 pm mass prayers were conducted for the wellbeing of SPB by celebrities including Bharathiraja, Ilayaraja, Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, A.R. Rahman, and others.  Prayers are continuing in all parts of the world for the legend to recover fast from the current condition he is in.
