Squid Game season 2 officially announced with a creepy teaser

After the most successful first season, Netflix renewed the Korean series Squid Games for a second instalment. The second season of Squid Game was announced on Sunday by Netflix on Twitter with a creepy teaser.

Squid Game was released in 2021 to record-breaking numbers. It became the most-watched Netflix original worldwide for Netflix. Netflix officially announced Season 2 in January. Well, eight months after the first season's premiere, Season 2 has been officially announced now by the streaming platform.

On June 12, Netflix dropped a very short teaser, featuring an animation of the animatronic doll that figured heavily in the show’s maiden season. “Red light GREENLIGHT (sic)!” the caption read, with the doll’s one eye flashing the number two.

In the same thread, Netflix shared the director's note for the fans. The post was captioned, “Hwang Dong-Hyuk writer, director, producer, and creator of @squidgame has a message for the fans:” The message reads, “It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever. As the writer, director, and producer of Squid Game, a huge shout out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show. And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns. Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. You'll also be introduced to Young-hee's boyfriend Cheoul-su."

The nine-episode series tells the story of a group of desperate people who sign up to play mysterious children’s games in the hope of winning a hefty cash prize. They risk their lives for KRW 45.6 billion prize money. In the series, 456 people from all walks of life are invited to play a series of games that have life-threatening consequences. Squid Game stars Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo, O Yeong-su, Wi Ha-joon, Jung Ho-yeon, Heo Sung-tae, Anupam Tripathi and Kim Joo-ryoung.
