Sreenu Vaitla-Mahesh film in Super 35 format

  • IndiaGlitz, [Monday,November 30 2009]

The film announced by Srinu Vaitla with Mahesh Babu in the lead will be shot in Super 35 MM format. This is the first time that a Vaitla film is using this costly camera format. The news has certainly added zing to the just-announced project. Also known as S35, the motion picture format enhances the picture format incredibly.

The technical finesse associated with the format came into existence in the year 1982 in a revised version. Originally known as Superscope 235, it puts a larger image frame by using negative space normally reserved for the optical analog sound track. Interestingly, theatres do not support Super 35 prints. The format has to be converted into one of the standard formats (supported by the screens in Andhra Pradesh).

Is it going to be a costly affair? Defintely, yes.

So, the 14 Reels Entertainment film with the Prince will set a new standard of technical superiority in Telugu. Earlier Senthil Kumar, the cinematographer, used it for the film Ashok but the trend did not pick up.
