SRK: Vijay Awards is a true privilege for me

For second consecutive year, B-Town Badshah, Shah Rukh Khan was honoured with Entertainer of Indian Cinema award at the 8th Annual Vijay Awards. Held on 5th July at SDAT Indoor Stadium in Chennai, the event witnessed actor Kamal Haasan and Mrs Latha Rajinikanth as the special guests of the evening, presenting some of the biggest awards. Mrs Latha Rajinikanth gave the award to SRK while Kamal Haasan, Surya, Vijay and Director Shankar applauded him on the stage.

Talking on this occasion, an elated Shah Rukh said, "This award is the most special one for me because I got it from Latha Rajinikanth ji. This is very humbling and I am truly honoured. The fact that I have gotten an opportunity to stand of the stage with so much talent that I feel I will never be able to match up to it in one life time. While I might not understand the language of the State, but I understand the language of cinema which is passionate and full of love. And hence spending time at the Vijay Awards is a true privilege for me." King Khan also posed for a selfie along with the celebrities present on stage.

This season, the Vijay Awards had 29 best' and 5 favourite' award categories. The annual film awards show for Tamil Cinema conducted for the past seven years by Vijay TV has been a phenomenal success and always witnesses an array of celebrities, film technicians and movie buffs. Ulaga Nayagan Kamal Haasan honoured director Shankar for his achievements with Chevalier Sivaji Ganesan Award. Last year's recipient of the same award was SRK.
