Today is the birthday of actor, director and producer Sasikumar.

After working as assistant director under Bala and Ameer, Sasikumar made his debut as a producer, director and actor in the path breaking film 'Subramaniapuram' which is considered to be one of the best films made in the history of Tamil cinema. The blockbuster hit flick turned out to be a cult classic and paved away for a slew of Madurai based action flicks.

Apart from that Sasikumar has directed only one film 'Eesan' which was critically acclaimed. He has been concentrating more on acting and production. His production venture 'Nadodigal' is an all class hit and was successfully remade in Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam languages and provided a much needed break in the career of director Samuthirakani who is now one of the most admired director and actor in South Indian cinema.

National award winning flick 'Pasanga' was produced by his Company Productions banner and that served as the fitting launch pad for director Pandiraj. 'Sundarapandian' and 'Kutty Puli' are the notable mass hits of Sasikumar which he also produced. He got the privilege of producing ace director Balu Mahendra's last film 'Thalaimuraigal' which won the National Award for Best National Integration film.

This year Sasikumar had two releases as a producer and three as an actor. The first among them is his mentor Bala's directorial 'Tharai Thappattai' which was the landmark 1000th musical of Isaignani Ilaiyaraja.

Then it was 'Vetrivel' produced by another producer and his latest release 'Kidaari' which is running successfully in theaters with critical acclaim. Now his Company Productions has launched a new film to be directed by debutant Prakash in which he will be playing a important role along with Kovai Sarala and Sangili Murugan.

Sasikumar is considered to be the best in stories and characters that speak the greatness of friendship. Many of the dialogues he has uttered about friendship in his film have become huge hits among the audience. His films are also family favorites as they will be completely devoid of vulgarity in any form.

Even off-screen, Sasikumar has achieved the goodwill as a person who goes to any extent to help his friends within and outside film industry. Samuthirakani who won the National award for his performance in 'Visaranai' owed his success to Sasikumar, who he considers as his younger brother.

Most of his production ventures have been directed either by debutants or his friends who are struggling for a break in film industry.

IndiaGlitz wishes Sasikumar a Happy birthday and a happy and healthy life ahead.
