"It was initiated with the sole aim of helping the needy. The first set of beneficiaries amounted to barely about a hundred. And then the number grew to a couple of hundreds. Now there are thousands of students who have benefitted from Agaram Foundation" said actor Suriya, who founded the platform to help needy students reach their dream of education. Speaking on the contributions to Agaram and its growth, Suriya said "My part in this organisation's growth only little, compared to the number of people who have helped scale the foundation up, with their monetary contribution and efforts." Regarding the future plans of Agaram, Suriya revealed that they are in the plans of opening a soft-skills school. "On reading deep into the number of students who excel in telecom studies, only a few land a good job. The reason, we find, is that they do not have proper training in soft skills. So, as part of Agaram's initiative, we're planning to set up a soft skills training school. Sairam group has been kind to us, by donating two acres of land, towards this, in Madurantakam" said Suriya.

Speaking further, Suriya inspired students and the under-confident work force. "The responsibility of a good student does not end in studying well. It goes far beyond in applying his knowledge and also helping others realise their dreams in whatever way possible. I notice that a lot of people are either often confused with their choice of profession, or are eternally under-confident of their profile. The world may hold its ideas, but only you choose your way of life. No matter who says what, one must take pride in his choice of profession. This is the key to job satisfaction. Do not run in the crowd towards a common aim, just because everyone is following it. If everyone becomes an engineer, then who will be a plumber? You are your own boss, and only you can decide what to become. This way, you are bound to be doing the job that you are at" he said.
