Suriya produced and acted in an important role in the critically acclaimed film 'Jai Bhim' that released on Diwali directly on OTT. The film also received huge response from viewers on Amazon Prime Video. The film directed by T.S. Gnanavel, the film featured Manikandan and Lijo Mol in the lead roles with Suriya playing the role of advocate Chandru based on the real life Justic Chandru.

The film was based on a true incident that took place in Villupuram in 1993 against the Irular tribal people. In this, Suriya plays the role of a lawyer who fights to get justice for the death of a tribal youth who was beaten to death by the police in custody.

'Jai Bhim' received critical acclaim not only in India but at various international film festivals worldwide and won awards. It is also featured in the ongoing International Film Festival of India held in Goa in which director T.J Gnanavel and producer Rajasekhar Pandian participated.

At the press meet the question was posed if there will be sequels to 'Jai Bhim' to which Rajasekhar Pandian instantly replied that it is very much on. Gnanavel then explained that there are many sensational cases in which Justice Chandru and any of them could make the story of the sequel to 'Jai Bhim'.

It has already been announced that Suriya and T.J. Gnanavel are reuniting for a new project in 2023. However its not clear if it is a standalone project or it will be 'Jai Bhim2'.
