Suriya-Jyothika issue gets government intervention

Suriya's 2D Entertainment has sold its upcoming movie 'Ponmagal Vanthaal' starring Jyothika and K. Bhagyaraj to Amazon Prime for a whopping 9 Crores and the film is all set to stream on the OTT in May foregoing the theatrical release. The Tamil Nadu theater owners objected to this and have threatened to boycott all other films of Suriya, Jyothika and also the films of production houses associated with the family.

TN Minister Kadambur Raju in a press meet today at Kovilpatti has stated that the affected party in this issue the theater owner has expressed their problems and this has to be sorted out in talks with the Producers Council. He has revealed that he has already spoken to the office bearers from the theaters side and the government would mediate talks with all concerned to solve the issue.

Kadambur Raju has also shared that an amount of rupees 1000 has been distributed to 7459 persons belonging to the film workers organizations and those who have been left out can apply for the same in person or through email with their identity proofs.
