Suriya one of the most hardworking and charismatic stars of Tamil cinema has been going from strength to strength in his career. He recently receieved the National Award for the Best Actor for 'Soorarai Pottru' and was also acclaimed for his role in 'Jai Bhim' both of which he produced.

The hot news doing the round currently is that Suriya is in talks to headline the cast of 'Velpari' directed by Shankar based on the novel of the same name written by Su Venkatesan in five parts. Several months back the news broke out about this and Suriya had also spoken during 'Viruman' audio launch that he is planning something big with Venkatesan.

However later on it was said that Shankar was looking at other stars such as Yash and Ranveer Singh and even Thalapathy Vijay's name was mentioned a few times. Now the sources say that Suriya and Ranveer Singh will play the two main leads with several leading heroes and heroines from pan Indian movie industries. Like the novel 'Velpari' the film too wil come out in five parts.

However as of now there has been no official word about this exciting combo. Suriya is currently acting in 'Kanguva' directed by Siruthai Siva and will soon move on to 'Suriya 43' directed Sudha Kongara. Shankar on the other hand has completed shooting Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 2' while there is a final schedule to be done for 'Game Changer' starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani.
