Suriya and Sudha Kongara delivered the National Award-winning film, 'Soorarai Pottru', in 2020. The actor and director combo reunited again for a massive project titled 'Purananooru' with a huge star cast. It is said to be a period socio-political drama set in the 1960s to the 1980s.

We already brought to you that Suriya will commence shooting for this new film this month. But the team's latest official update on 'Purananooru' left the fans disappointed. Suriya and Sudha issued a statement saying that this movie will take more time to go on the floors. Suriya and Jyotika's 2D Entertainment is bankrolling this upcoming project.

The update says, "Dear All, Purananooru requires more time. This collaboration is very special and close to our hearts. We are working towards giving you our best. We will be going on the floors very soon. Thank you for the constant love and support." This news is doing rounds on the internet now.

'Purananooru' features Suriya, Dulquer Salmaan, Nazriya Nazim, Vijay Varma and others. It 100th flick of GV Prakash Kumar, who recently stated that this film will hit the screens by this year. But now, a 2024 release is uncertain. However, we hear that Sudha Kongara will wrap up this movie in jet speed once it commences.
