Suriya’s much-anticipated film ‘Retro’ has wrapped up shooting and is gearing up for its grand theatrical release on May 1st. As excitement builds among fans, new details about the film’s censorship have surfaced online.
The film has officially received a ‘U/A’ certificate from the censor board. Its final runtime clocks in at 168 minutes, or 2 hours and 48 minutes, making it a nearly three-hour cinematic experience. Whether the extended runtime adds to the film’s impact remains to be seen.
Reports also suggest that a few intense bloodshed scenes were trimmed, and around 34 seconds of footage were removed. Additionally, certain dialogues were muted based on censor recommendations, though specifics haven’t been disclosed.
Pooja Hegde stars as the female lead alongside Suriya, with a strong supporting cast featuring Joju George, Karunakaran, and Jayaram. The film boasts a technical crew of top talents—Santhosh Narayanan handling music, Shreya Krishna on cinematography, Shafiq Mohammed Ali in editing, and Jayika choreographing stunts. The production is a joint venture between 2D Entertainment and Stone Bench.
