Suriya's much-awaited film Retro, directed by Karthik Subbaraj, is gearing up for a grand release on May 1st. With the countdown ticking, promotional activities are in full swing, and a major audio launch event is reportedly scheduled for April 18th at a private college in Chennai. An official announcement is expected soon.
Even before hitting the big screen, Retro has already created a buzz in the trade circuit. The film's business has officially begun, with digital rights snapped up by Netflix for a significant sum. Additionally, Sun TV is said to have secured the satellite rights. Combined, these two deals have reportedly covered nearly half of the film’s total ₹65 crore budget.
Industry insiders suggest that Retro is already shaping up to be a lucrative venture for producers 2D Entertainment and Stonebench. And with excitement expected to surge after the audio launch, the pre-release momentum is only growing stronger.
Retro marks the first-ever collaboration between Suriya and director Karthik Subbaraj. The film also stars Pooja Hegde, Joju George, Jayaram, Karunakaran, and more in key roles. With music by Santhosh Narayanan, cinematography by Shreya Krishna, and editing by Shafiq Mohammed Ali, the film brings together a top-tier technical crew to match its star power.
